Difference between Flat Point Set Screws and Hex Socket Grub Screws

Flat point set screws and hex socket grub screws are both types of fasteners used to secure two or more objects together.They differ in terms of their design and functionality.

Flat point set screws, also known as set screws or grub screws, have a flat tip at the end. They typically have a threaded body with no head, and they are tightened using a wrench or an Allen key. The flat point allows them to create a flush surface when installed, making them suitable for applications where a smooth, even finish is desired. They are commonly used to secure objects against a flat surface or to prevent slippage between two components.

Hex socket grub screws, also known as socket set screws, have a hexagonal recessed socket at the top. This socket is designed to accommodate an Allen key or hex wrench for tightening. Unlike flat point set screws, hex socket grub screws have a pointed or cupped tip instead of a flat end. This design allows them to dig into the surface they are being screwed into, providing better grip and resistance against loosening. They are often used to secure rotating components, such as gears or pulleys, onto shafts or axles.

The main difference between flat point set screws and hex socket grub screws lies in their tip design and intended applications.
